Is FedBizOpps (FBO.gov) still active?
No. FedBizOpps was retired on November 12, 2019. All federal contract opportunities are now posted on SAM.gov. Any article, tutorial, or training that references FBO or FBO.gov is out of date — use SAM.gov instead.
FedBizOpps (commonly abbreviated FBO or FBO.gov) was the federal government's contract opportunity notification system from 2001 to 2019. It was retired on November 12, 2019, and its data was migrated first to beta.SAM.gov and then to the current SAM.gov.
There is no successor site at fbo.gov. The domain redirects to SAM.gov, but any bookmarks, saved searches, or third-party integrations that were built against the FBO API stopped working at retirement. FBO's SGML data feed was replaced by the SAM.gov Contract Opportunities API.
If you are reading an article, training, or vendor manual that references FBO, it is out of date. Use SAM.gov for all federal contract opportunity discovery. SAM.gov combined the former FBO, CCR (Central Contractor Registration), FPDS (Federal Procurement Data System), FSRS (Federal Subaward Reporting), and several other legacy federal systems into a single integrated portal.
Common outdated references that still cause confusion: FBO's "Solicitation Number" is now called "Notice ID" on SAM.gov, and the URL format for opportunity detail pages changed from fbo.gov/spg/AGENCY/... to sam.gov/opp/{noticeId}/view.
